Secretary Tribal Affairs visits Kupwara

KUPWARA : Secretary Tribal Affairs Department, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today visited Kupwara and inaugurated repairs, renovation and fencing project of Gujjar Bakerwal hostel Kupwara in presence of Deputy Commisioner Kupwara Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray.
Secretary, Tribal Affairs in collaboration with District adminstration Kupwara held an interaction and out-reach programe with Parents, Students and Staff of Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel Kupwara and took stock of different tribal smart schools and projects in tribal villages of Kupwara district.
During the visit of the Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel Kupwara, Secretary reviewed the status of facilities being extended to the students in the hostel.
Secretary Tribal Affairs Department while chairing a well attended interaction cum outreach programe at Hostel congratulated District Adminstration Kupwara for active involvement of tribal communities in different developmental plan formulation projects and their execution.
“District Adminstration lead by Deputy Commisioner Kupwara is doing wonderfull work in ensuring participation of tribal community in different development programes, Tourism and quality education” Secretary Said.
Secretary assured the people all support from the Tribal Affairs Department for quality education, Infrastructure Development, Youth engagement, empowerment and skill upgradation, provision of facilities in different sectors for tribals including health care, veterinary, animal Husbandry employment, promotion of tribal art and culture.
“The Tribal Affairs department in collaboration with District Adminstration Kupwara is actively engaging with all the stakeholders for a coordinated approach aimed at overall welfare and holistic development of tribal community of Kupwara district” Dr. Shahid Choudhary said.
While addressing the interaction cum out-reach programe Deputy Commisioner (DC)Kupwara Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray thanked Secretary Tribal Affairs Department on behalf of district adminstration Kupwara for paying his visit to Kupwara district and reviewing different tribal related schemes in the district and reviewing of education scenario of tribal boys and girls, empowerment of youth and taking stock of mission youth schemes in Kupwara district.
Deputy Commisioner said that Tribal dhocks in areas like Bungas and Drangyadi are being turned into home stay as tourist footfall is increasing in the district where tribal people can avail benefits of tourist flow and simultaneously showcase their rich culture, tradition and eco-tourism values.
Secretary was informed that around 100 tribal students are having education, boarding and lodging facilities in Gujjar Bakerwal Boys hostel Kupwara. Results of these students have improved and hostel has produced toppers in results of different classes ,sports and cultural activities.
On the ocasion a colourful cultural programe and a skit depicting importance of education of tribal boys and girls was presented by students of hostel which enthralled the audience and won appreciations from all.
Certificates of appreciation and momentos were presented by Secretary Tribal affairs, DC Kupwara, SSP Kupwara and other dignitaries to students, staff and community leaders for their exemplary achievements in different fields.
The students , parents and different community leaders on the ocasion appreciated the efforts of Secretary Tribal Affairs and DC Kupwara for initiating positive steps to map the issues of tribal community and highlighted their contibution in bringing change in education and development of Gujjar community.
Feedback on different issues was received by the Secretary.

Later Secretary Tribal Affairs along with DC Kupwara and officers of district adminstration paid a visit to Tribal smart School Gund Jahangeer and Tribal smart school Gagal to take stock of education facilities there.
