NIT Campus Srinagar Conducts a mass Covid 19 Testing Drive

Srinagar: NIT Campus Srinagar After 24 students were tested for Covid19, the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar decided to launch a mass screening campaign for all staff and students on Monday.

The screening campaign was conducted by the Institute Health Center in collaboration with the local medical authorities of the J&K government. It is suspected that many COVID cases may occur between students and staff of the Center.

Officials of the Institute as a precautionary measure have decided to conduct an examination of a large number of staff and students of the Institute. The Institutional Health Center in consultation with the local medical authorities of the J&K Government has completed the examination to be conducted on 11.04.2022.

Accordingly, all staff and students of the Center are instructed to test themselves on 11.04.2022 at 10.30 AM in a testing facility to be established near the Institutional Health Center.

This is issued as approved by the Executive Council.

Prof. Sehgal said they will ensure that all SOPs of COVID19 are adhered to, so that there is no risk of further transmission of the infection.

He said it was also decided that wearing a 3-ply mask that could be reused or discarded was mandatory for all people entering the NIT campus.

The Institute’s Registrar, Prof Syed Kaiser Bukhari said they had issued a circular to further the tests of many students, as well as staff.

“The Institutional Health Center in consultation with the local medical authorities of the J&K Government has completed the examination on 11.04.2022,” he said.

Prof. Bukhari said it was suspected that many cases with COVID could be reported, and all staff and students were instructed to test themselves on Monday.

The chief medical officer, Drs. Fayaz Ahmad Bhat said a special examination would be conducted under the supervision of the relevant NIT Director, Prof Rakesh Sehgal. Both the RAT and RTPCR tests will be conducted from Monday onwards, he said NIT Campus Srinagar.

“We have completed all the screening tests. Driving will continue for some days at the center, ”he added.
