Editorial | Power Cuts Amid Ramadan

Power cuts are not a new phenomenon in Kashmir, to say we have over the time got used to these things especially during winters. However as we already have moved beyond winters and are officially in the spring season, with largely fair weather conditions, we nonetheless continue to witness the trend and ironically when we are in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan. Hardly a day goes by when we don’t get to hear about pesky and unscheduled power cuts at times from one corner of the Valley and the very next day entirely from some other, thereby putting the people in great sort of inconvenience. Despite good tidings by administration from time to time about boosting of supply, we don’t feel much being done on ground as to alleviation in the sufferings of general populace. People have been facing hardships especially during Sehri and Iftar as power supply usually remains off during these crucial timings. The administration needs to rise up to the occasion and make things easy for the people by providing adequate power supply as to ease out the things, especially in this hour of need. Good hopes!
