DRDO Successfully flight tests to Air Missile in Indian Army version range surface
New DelHI: Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) conducted two successful pilot tests for the Indian Army version of Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) at Integrated Test Range, Chandipur off the coast of Odisha in March 27, 2022.

The flight test was performed as part of a live shooting test against a high-speed aerial target. The arrows caught the air target and completely destroyed it, registering direct strikes on both sides.

The first launch was to break the long distance goal of medium height and the second launch was to prove the short-term power of the short-range target.
This MRSAM version is a Surface-to-Air Arrow jointly developed by DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Israel for use by the Indian Army.

The MRSAM Army weapons program includes a multi-function radar, a mobile launcher system and other vehicles. Flight testing is done with the weapons system in the configuration. The performance of the weapons system was verified by aircraft data taken from a wide range of tools such as radar, electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry used by ITR, Chandipur.
The flight test was carried out in front of senior DRDO and Indian Army officials.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, Indian Army and industry on the MRSAM-Army aviation tests. He said, both successful tests established the ability of the weapons system to target targeted areas in critical areas.
Secretary of the Department of Defense for R&D and DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy commended the teams that participated in the successful flight test of the MRSAM version and said that the tests were a milestone for ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
